BIOMEDICAL  RESEARCH  SCHOLARSHIPS  AND  GRANTS  AVAILABLE  IN  THE  MANAWATU

The Palmerston North Medical Research Foundation is a charitable organisation which makes available research funds to facilitate biomedical research in Palmerston North and its environs.



  1. The Wilson Grant is available annually, to fund research projects which relate to cardiovascular disease or cancer.
  2. Summer Scholarships support tertiary students during the summer vacation while they work within an appropriate biomedical research project.
  3. Visiting Professorship


The Foundation particularly encourages applications for:

  • Medically related projects, especially those of special relevance to the local region.
  • Research work which encourages co-operation between the local research institutions.
  • Support of younger researchers.
  • Seeding money to help establish new research programmes

The Palmerston North Medical Research Foundation mainly derives its funding base as donations and bequests from supportive members of the public as well as from membership subscriptions. The Board acknowledges the generous support it has received in the past and are happy at all times to discuss the role and aims of the Foundation with anyone interested in joining or supporting the Foundation in the future.
